Cambridge School provides education for secondary school students, aged between 11 and 16. After this time, they move on to continue their education at college. The conversation of transition begins as early as Year 9. Discussions about college courses and future careers, features within various areas of the curriculum.
Annual Reviews of EHCPs in Year 9-11, support the discussion of destinations and possible courses from Supported Learning/Internship to Level 1 Diplomas. Families are encouraged to arrange visits to their preferred colleges following the Year 10 Annual Review; enabling them to make an informed choice when it is time to apply. As part of the ‘Enrichment’ and ‘Careers’ opportunities, students visit colleges and participate in various workshops. Once the students have had their final Annual Review with us in Year 11, destinations are named as ‘parental preference’ and applications are completed. Cambridge staff are here to support where required.
Below are some of the colleges where our students have continued their education:
- West London College (Hammersmith, Ealing and Southall)
- City of Westminster (Maida Vale and Paddington Green)
- West Thames
- South Thames
- College of North West London (Willesden and Wembley)
- Westminster Kingsway College (Kennett West)
- Harrow
- Uxbridge
A well-planned transition helps to reduce the level of anxiety that some students may encounter. We offer support to students and families to ensure the transition to a new destination is as smooth as possible.
